Alberta Minimum Wage Increases: All you should know about the Latest Update
As of October 2023, the general minimum wage in Alberta is CAD 15 per hour. The province was the first in Canada to attain this barrier in 2018, when the current rate was established. The Alberta Minimum Wage 2023 applies to all provincially regulated workers in the province, whether they are hourly, part-time, or full-time, with the exception of students under the age of 18. The minimum wage in Alberta, which is CAD 15.00 per hour, has not increased since 2018 and is no longer among the highest in the nation.

No Minimum Wage Increases for Alberta
You can read this page for additional updates on the most recent information on the Alberta CAD Minimum Wage 2023 since the province of Alberta does not currently have any plans to raise or change its minimum wage. The minimum wage was last raised by the province five years ago, in 2018, from CAD 13.60 per hour.
The current minimum wage rate in Alberta is CAD 15 per hour, and it went into effect on October 1, 2018. Between 2015 and 2018, the province’s minimum wage rose from CAD 10.20 to CAD 15.00 per hour under the direction of the Alberta New Democratic Party.
MWR for Alberta students under 18
On June 26, 2019, Alberta set a minimum wage of CAD 13 per hour for students under the age of 18. While this serves as the foundation, employers are encouraged to pay over the Minimum Wage. This student-specific salary is valid for a maximum of 28 hours per week during school hours. After 28 hours, students are eligible for the standard MWR of CAD 15 per hour.
