Superannuation Payments 2024

The New Zealand government provides superannuation to individuals aged 65 and older, helping low-income retirees meet their living expenses. Established under the New Zealand Retirement Act 2001, NZ Superannuation acts as extra income for essential needs.

In 2024, beneficiaries will see increased payment rates to address the challenges of rising inflation and living costs. Payment amounts depend on various factors including marital status, living situation, tax status, and receipt of overseas pensions. These benefits are not income or asset tested and are determined based on earned income.
