Positive Update for Mobile Internet Users in Pakistan

Increase in Number of Telecom Users

Great news for mobile internet users in Pakistan! The federal government has given the green light to the telecom infrastructure sharing framework, as announced by PTA in a recent statement. This approval is set to bring positive developments for Pakistani mobile users.

In collaboration with the Ministry of IT and the Telecom sector, the newly developed framework ensures licensees and regulatory mechanisms. This is fantastic news for telecom users, as it promises affordable and high-quality services, especially crucial for 4G and 3G infrastructure sharing. The completion of this initiative across Pakistan is a significant step towards improved telecommunications.

The Number of Users Using Broadband Service

In Pakistan, the broadband user base has surged to 11.7 million. However, obstacles like IT export-free licenses are hindering the growth of foreign exports. A recent meeting, chaired by Federal Minister Syed Aminul Haq, addressed this issue along with discussions on the research and development fund and police companies. The meeting resulted in the approval of a budget amounting to 32 billion and 13 crore rupees for the Universal Service Fund in the financial year 2022-23. This marks a significant step forward in supporting and expanding the country’s telecom infrastructure.

As per the Minister of Information Technology, the Universal Service Fund (USF) has achieved a remarkable milestone in delivering broadband services over the past four years, surpassing the accomplishments of the 13-year period from 2006 to 2019. Since 2019, the USF has initiated 69 projects aimed at providing broadband services. The meeting, attended by the Secretary Finance, Member Telegram, and other members, discussed and celebrated these achievements.
