Rumored iPhone 17 ‘Slim’ will feature biggest redesign since iPhone X, priced above Pro Max variant as most expensive iPhone ever

Rumored iPhone 17 ‘Slim’ will feature biggest redesign since iPhone X

As per a recent report by The Information, Apple is anticipated to present a new ‘Slim’ version of its upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is scheduled to launch in 2025. This ‘Slim’ version, which is priced higher than the Pro Max model, will come with a 6.6-inch display, a much slimmer aluminum frame, a top-centered rear camera, and other improvements. It will also cost an eye-watering $1,199.

According to reports, Apple intends to release the iPhone 17 “Slim,” a high-end model, as early as next year. The Information’s paywalled report, which MacRumors spotted, claims that this new model will feature the biggest redesign since the iPhone X.

The iPhone X, which debuted the controversial notch and did away with the home button in favor of a larger display in 2017, marked the beginning of the iPhone’s shift to an all-screen design. This was the phone’s most significant redesign to date. Another significant design shift is anticipated with the rumored iPhone 17 “Slim,” which is predicted to move the rear camera to the top center instead of the upper-left position it has held since the release of the first iPhone in 2007.

Based on the report, the iPhone 17 “Slim” will remain true to its name because of its 6.6-inch display, which is positioned between the 6.1- and 6.9-inch models, and its much slimmer aluminum chassis. In addition, the iPhone ‘Slim’ will come with Apple’s upcoming A19 SoC, a more compact dynamic island with an upgraded front camera, and a starting price that is higher than the current top-tier Pro Max model—nearly $1,199.

Should these modifications take place, it will be interesting to observe how Apple distinguishes between the ‘Pro’ and ‘Slim’ names. ‘Air’ models of iPads and MacBooks have typically been less expensive, lighter models. But in light of the fact that the new 5.1 mm iPad Pro (currently $996 on Amazon) is substantially thinner than the iPad Air, Apple’s naming practices have grown more intricate. The iPhone 17 ‘Slim’ may cost more than the ‘Pro Max’ model, so this could make the naming scheme even more odd. With a late 2025 launch window, Apple will fortunately have plenty of time to work out any kinks in its product lineup; in fact, the iPhone ‘Slim’ variant may even turn out to be the long-rumored iPhone ‘Ultra’.
