The historic Canadian Dental Treatment Plan (CDCP) has made increased access to dental care for all Canadians possible. A successful CDCP could be one of Canada’s greatest achievements in public health.
The Canada Dental Care Plan Application 2024 Last Date is June 30, 2024, and the second application period will begin on July 1, 2023. When the entire CDCP is made available, up to 8 million Canadians without health insurance—including the elderly and the disabled—may benefit. Canada Dental Care Plan- Current Benefits
Under the Canada Dental Benefit, families in Canada are eligible for up to two tax-free payments totaling CAD 650 for each eligible kid. These reimbursements are available to children under the age of twelve who are not covered by a private dental plan. The two CDCP payment distribution time periods for 2024 are October 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, and July 1, 2023 to June 20, 2024.
To get both installments, you must apply during each payment period. Your family’s adjusted net income determines the benefit amount:
A household earning less than CAD 70,000 is entitled to CAD 650 for each child.
Families with earnings ranging from CAD 70,000 to CAD 79,999 receive CAD 390.
Between CAD 80,000 and CAD 89,999 in earnings, each household receives CAD 260.
Canada Dental Care Plan- Eligibility Criteria
Your child was born on July 2, 2011, or later.
Your child will receive dental care in Canada from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Your child does not have access to a private dental insurance plan.
The whole cost of your child’s dental care is not covered by any government dental program.
As of July 1, 2023, you will receive half of the child’s CCB if you share custody, or the full CCB.

CDCP- Full Implementation By 2025
Making dental treatment more accessible to Canadians with low- and middle-incomes who do not have health insurance and whose adjusted net family income is less than CAD 80,000 was the aim of the federal government’s 2023 federal budget. The full implementation of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is not expected to occur until 2025. The government filled the void by instituting the Canada Dental Benefit (often known as CDB), which pays for children under the age of twelve’s dental bills out of pocket.
Qualifying families can receive direct upfront tax-free payments of up to CAD 650 for each kid. Over a five-year period starting in 2023–2024, the Canadian government will invest CAD 13 billion in the CDCP. Although the CDB is expected to assist half a million Canadian children, a significant number of applications for the Canada Dental Care Plan 2024 have already been submitted.
